Ryder . 15 Months
15 months old; 25 pounds, 3 ounces.
.
.
In last month's email, Ryder was just starting to really walk on his own. Well, now, there is no stopping the kid. He is everywhere! He especially loves to be outside - he thinks playing on the driveway is the most fun - the grass is only fun if he doesn't fall.

| Patrick's birthday - with a cute new shirt reading "Dad says I'm in charge" |
![]() |
| Ryder LOVES watching Patrick mow the lawn (or any of the neighbors mow their lawns). |
![]() |
| Playing with his train. |
![]() |
| Showing off his spelling skills. |
![]() |
| Drinking his juice . . . |
![]() |
| Signing "all done" when he finishes - except, his palms are supposed to be face down. |
![]() |
| Giving Kate a hug. |
![]() |
| Ryder generally wakes up in a great mood! |
![]() |
| Picking out a pumpkin. |
![]() |
| Trying to carry the pumpkin by himself. |
![]() |
| Eating his favorite snack - watermelon. |
![]() |
| Painting his pumpkin. He was more interested in walking around the driveway, than in painting the pumpkin. When I showed him he could use he hands to spread the paint, he didn't really like the idea. |
![]() |
| Enjoying one of his favorite hobbies - running around the kitchen island. |
![]() |
| Bath time! |
![]() |
| Such a happy baby! |
![]() |
| Feeding ducks at the park - really, though, he was again more interested in walking around the gravel area. |
![]() |
| Pushing his toys across the Family Room - another favorite hobby! |
Ryder is finally cutting more teeth . . . he's working on the 6th and 7th ones right now. He continues to not talk, but he recognizes more and more words every day. His sound affect rrepertoire also continues to grow!
.
.
This past month was fun - Patrick's birthday, and several low-key weekends! We had our first monthly "Grandparent Dinner Night" at the beginning of the month, and look forward to November's dinner!
.
.
The next month brings some fun fall activities, and hopefully a few more low-key weekends before the holiday season gets going in full-gear.

Ryder . 14 Months
14 months old; 25 pounds.
.
As with last month, we've had a busy past few weeks. Ryder started walking on August 28, but would really only walk to someone if you were coaxing him. On September 10 we were at Peach Days in Brigham, and he was getting fussy in his stroller, but he didn't want to be held either - I set him down, and he just took off. The last few weeks, especially this past week, has brought lots of exploring!

| So much for staying relatively clean while eating. |
![]() |
| Bath time. |
![]() |
| Ryder LOVES hugging Kate (and Pete), but neither of them love it. |
![]() |
| Watching a rain storm from the Front Porch. |
![]() |
| Ryder thought he was pretty funny wearing Patrick's shirt. |
![]() |
| Trying to capture him walking at first was pretty hard - he comes at you quick! |
![]() |
| Walking. |
![]() |
| Playing with his train - he loves putting the blocks in the correct hole. |
![]() |
| Antelope Island Balloon Stampede. |
![]() |
| Soaking in some sun one last time at the Roy Aquatic Center - he's going to miss this place - it doesn't open again until June 2011. |
![]() |
| Tomato Days (in Hooper) Baby Contest. The judges were clearly blind that morning - he didn't win. |
![]() |
| Ryder's favorite part of Tomato Days was when the tractor leveled out the arena (for the dog races!). |
![]() |
| Ryder never passes up an opportunity to play with Patrick's tape measurer. |
![]() |
| Peach Days in Brigham City. You would think by now that Ryder would know to look at the camera - we have to work on the self-portrait thing! |
![]() |
| "What powder, mom?!?" |
![]() |
| Bath time. |
![]() |
| This kid loves watermelon! |
![]() |
| Walking. |
![]() |
| Walking - the shirt is a NASCAR/Kevin Harvick joke. |
![]() |
| Trying to catch geese with Patrick. |
![]() |
| Watching the ducks (and wishing we had brought bread!). |
Ryder finally cut a 5th tooth. We still are hoping for more to come soon, so that he can more easily chew food. He continues to not talk, but he recognizes more and more words every day. His sound affect repertoire is also growing!
.This next month is calmer, as summer winds down completely. We have some celebrating to do for Patrick's birthday and a few weekend activities planned. We are loving the start of cooler weather, and have been spending quite a bit more time outside playing.

Ryder . Antelope Island
This past weekend, like last year, we went out to Antelope Island's Balloon & Kite Stampede.
.
What a difference a year makes!

Ryder . 13 Months
Wow?!? Another month already?!
.
.
13 months old; 24 pounds, 3 ounces (Still. All this crawling around at the speed of light makes it hard to put on the weight).
.
.
We've had a very busy past few weeks. After celebrating Ryder's birthday, we moved on to Pioneer Day (Utah state holiday), my birthday, Raspberry Days in Bear Lake, Roy Days, and a Park City weekend getaway!
.
.
![]() |
| Eating blueberries, and making a mess. |
![]() |
| Looking out the window - our blinds are frequently at this height - just out of his reach! |
![]() |
| Waiting patiently for his swimming lessons to begin. Ryder wanted to get in the water as soon as he saw it - he didn't like waiting for his class. |
![]() |
| Playing on the steps is his favorite part at the Roy Complex - I think he just likes having control of being able to touch the ground. |
![]() |
| Playing with his CAT truck. |
![]() |
| Although Ryder will sit on the trampoline, he prefers to crawl under it (getting quite dirty) when he plays next door. |
![]() |
| Waving to the horses at the Pioneer Day parade. |
![]() |
| We discovered the Roy Aquatic Center is one of Ryder's favorite summertime spots - there is so much to do there! And, just try to convince me that he isn't super adorable in those sunglasses! |
![]() |
| Crawling through the tunnel. |
![]() |
| Apparently, wearing your shorts on your head is quite funny! |
![]() |
| Sporting a mohawk. |
![]() |
| Soaking in some sun at the Aquatic Center on my birthday. |
![]() |
| Patrick taught Ryder how to take his hat on and off. |
![]() |
| Playing with Patrick's tape measure is a regular morning occurrence, and often a nightly one too. |
![]() |
| Showing off his newly learned skill to his Great Grandpa Verl. |
![]() |
| Ryder received the coolest bubble blowing toy for his birthday - he loves the itty bitty bubbles! |
![]() |
| Figuring out his new toy while we waited for fireworks at Roy Days. |
![]() |
| Watermelon is a new favorite at our house. |
![]() |
| Showing off his new shirt at the Deer Valley Music Festival |
![]() |
| Taking a GIANT bubble bath at the hotel in Park City! |
Ryder is still not walking, but it will not surprise me when he finally decides he wants to - he is so so close, but crawling is just faster.
.
.
He still only has the 4 front teeth, with no sign of more. We wish he would get a few more, just because he would be able to eat food easier. He has lost all interest in pureed food, and will only eat what everyone else is eating. Which, has been nice in some ways, and hard in others - considering the lack of teeth.
.
.
Ryder continues to not talk, but he recognizes more and more words every day. On the top of the list are mom, dad, Kate and Pete (our 2 cats), Lucy (one of the many neighbor dogs, and also a stuffed animal version they gave us), truck, ball, milk, juice, more, all done, nap, bed, pacifier, book, yes, no, walk, "let's go", clap, and up. Of course there are more, but those come to mind first!
.
.
This next month brings with it a bit of a slower schedule(!), more trips to the Aquatic Center (only 2 more weeks of being open), a getaway (work-related for me) to Midway, Tomato Days in Hooper, and Peach Days in Brigham.
