Just like we've done for the past 3 years, we attended the morning launch of hot air balloons, as part of the Antelope Island Balloon & Kite Stampede. The full event is still located on the island, but the morning launch was moved to Kaysville Ponds. It actually works out better for us, so we're happy about the change!

(On August 31st, we headed to Kaysville Ponds to watch the morning balloon launch (part of the Antelope Island Balloon & Kite Stampede). This year the boys loved watching the balloons as they were inflated, and then launched into the morning sky. We packed a picnic breakfast (fruit and yogurt, with sandwiches picked up from Carls Jr.), and enjoyed it on the nearby bleachers. The boys took advantage of the open space at the park, and ran around for about an hour!
Although we miss out on the events on Antelope Island by only attending the morning launch, it works out perfectly for us. We just wish they launched more than three balloons!) |
For the avid blog readers...family...you may remember this event as the one where I took one of my favorite photos of Ryder, in 2009. Since then, I've forced Patrick and the boys to recreate it. This year, I didn't decide for or against it until we were there. In the end, it just didn't naturally work into the morning, so the tradition ended. I have 4 of Ryder, and 2 of Harvick & Jarrett. But, the picture below...this may be the new tradition for me to try to capture!
