Apraxia of Speech . Week 1 . "oo"

So, my Apraxia of Speech blog post was 100% true.  It is the real life situation, and how we feel about it.  But, it wasn't meant to be a "Debbie-Downer" type post.  The diagnosis is real.  But it's something we will work through, one-step-at-a-time.

As we are given something to work on with Ryder, I will post it here.  The more consistency and repetition Ryder gets, the better.

For ease of record keeping for us, the posts will be formatted similar.  Patrick and I will pick a few words each week that correspond with the sound, for us to focus on with Ryder.  Also, Ryder is learning "hand signals" as he learns sounds, especially vowels, in hopes that the connection of motor planning will be easier signaled.

SOUND: "oo"
WORDS: moo (as in, the noise a cow makes), food, and blue
HAND SIGNAL: Use your pointer and middle finger from each hand, and press them on the side of your lips on each side, as you purse your lips while saying "oo".

One-step-at-a-time.
