Anyway - on to Ryder. I have two posts to do right now - one for "24 months", and the other for his birthday celebrations . . . the celebration post wins this time!
We started out our weekend with trying to attend the "Breakfast in the Park" for Clinton City Days - turns out a lot of other people had the same idea. The line for breakfast was ridiculously long, and the playground area was in a different portion of the park. We opted, instead to grab breakfast at Carls Jr (the Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuits are only $1!) and go to a closer to home park. Our goal was to have a busy day so that Ryder would take a good afternoon nap, allowing him to be in a good mood for his party. We ate breakfast and played with Ryder on the playground until it was time to head home to feed Harvick and Jarrett.
Recently, we went to a friend's house for dinner - they had a battery operated 4-wheeler, and Ryder fell in love with it. So, for his birthday, our main gift to him was one of these. We thought for sure that Ryder would absolutely love it . . . except, we bought one of the "age 3 and up" ones that goes a little faster, which also makes it louder . . . he was excited about the 4-wheeler, but didn't like the loud noise. After some time warming up to it, he finally enjoyed riding around the lawn!

That evening, we had his party at the park. And, as much as Ryder enjoys a few TV shows/movies, we decided to just stick with a balloon (and ball) theme, since that is what he loves most. When he got to the park, he was definitely excited to see the decorations!
Due to having a summer birthday, and it happening to land on such a nice weekend, unfortunately, several of his friends weren't able to make it. We still had a great time, though! As with last year, I had my camera there, but it was hardly picked up - most of the pictures are of Ryder opening his presents.

Finally, on Sunday (his actual birthday) Patrick and I took Ryder to see "Cars 2" at the movie theater. Ryder sat in his seat well for the first hour, but started to lose interest the second hour. Despite the "G" rating, the movie was a bit violent (cars being blown up/falling to their death), and didn't hold his attention as well as the first movie has at home.
After the movie, we went out to eat at Patricias where Ryder enjoyed chips and salsa again, and loved his cheese enchilada! And, for his birthday, Patricia gave him his own fried ice cream! The dessert confused him slightly . . . it is served in a glass, so he thought he was supposed to drink it.

True to form - he kept stealing our napkins to wipe off his face - he just doesn't like being too messy. |
Finally, we ended the birthday celebrations with one more gift after having an early bath.
It's hard to believe this baby of ours is already 2 years old. TWO. Time goes by too quickly. MUCH too quickly.
